Nicole is The Creative Mind Behind “Pigs Love to Paint”
Discover the imaginative spirit of Nicole de Villiers, the founder of the delightful venture “Pigs Love to Paint,” situated on the picturesque Isle of Man. The name playfully references her affectionate nickname, “Pigs,” which she earned due to her fondness for, you guessed it, pigs! Originally hailing from South Africa, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Nicole was awarded Cum Laude for her thesis on the visual literacy of children, analysing how images and graphics encourage learning in children during their early developmental years. Fun Fact: She nearly left the design world to pursue a teaching degree after completing her thesis. But instead she went on to gain experience in design, publishing, advertising but most of all print and pattern design.

Nicole’s success in creating polymer clay earrings is what she is possibly best known for on Isle of Man. Her fresh and fashionable creations are not only aesthetically unique and colourful, but also beautifully enhanced with elegant gold-plated charms and hypoallergenic findings, making them a firm favourite amongst locals. Her remarkable skills in drawing, design, and colour shine through in every piece, making her work sought after both online and in local shops, as well as at artisan events. A highlight of her collection includes the specially designed Manx tartan earrings, which are highly coveted at the Manx National Heritage stockist. Nicole is also a familiar face at local artisan markets, where her creations are eagerly snapped up.

Nicole’s artistic journey goes beyond her individual creations. Her passion for working with local artisans and encouraging others has led her to partner with local brands such as the Breeze Candles, Little Tree soaps and Isle Listen - infusing her unique style into everyday products that bring joy to people's lives.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Nicole’s inquisitive mind, colourful spirit and love for skill sharing makes her an ideal instructor for all ages. She currently leads Artreach Studios children’s Saturday term-time art club, sharing her enthusiasm for creativity with young minds and will be instructing a number of fabulous art courses starting with, 'Introduction to Art' from January 14th!
